Meet Kerry Kinsey: Exec Sportscaster and Editor at aNewDomain

aNewDomain.net — Based in Atlanta, Kerry Kinsey is an Emmy-nominated and seven-time AP Award-winning TV sports and news anchor/reporter. Now he’s our sports editor and sportscaster at aNewDomain.net.

Kerry started his broadcasting career as a radio disk jockey, news reporter, and a football and baseball play-by-play announcer in South Carolina and Georgia.

Then he moved to television as a sports anchor/reporter. Among his stops: WHAS-TV in Louisville, KY, followed by WOWK-TV in Charleston/Huntington, WV, where he was the sports director and sports anchor. There he won five Associated Press Awards in two years including “Best Sportscast” three times and “Outstanding Sports Operation.”

Kerry’s covered many major sporting events, including the NCAA Final Four, the World Series, the Daytona 500, the Indianapolis 500, the Kentucky Derby, the PGA Championship and the Heisman Trophy presentation. He’s also covered NASCAR, college football bowl matchups, and countless MLB, NFL, college and high school football, baseball and basketball games.

Always up for a challenge, Kerry tried his hand at news. He worked as a TV anchor/reporter in Philadelphia, Houston and in Salt Lake City, where he was nominated for a Rocky Mountain Regional Emmy Award for general assignment reporting.

While working in Utah, Kerry flew to Los Angeles and hosted a show for the Fine Living Network. The television pilot, 50 Ways to Cut Your Bills Today, won a 2008 Gold Remi Award at the 41st Annual WorldFest Houston International Film Festival.

Kerry also taught broadcasting for two years in Atlanta, serving as a coach and mentor to hundreds of students aspiring toward careers in radio and television. Kerry is passionate about sports and in particular his Atlanta and Georgia sports teams — Falcons, Braves, Hawks and the Bulldogs. He’s been fortunate to cover all of them professionally and to attend hundreds of their games as a fan.

As an “Army Brat,” Kerry lived in Japan, Hawaii, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. His brother is a West Point graduate and a retired colonel in the U.S. Army who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Kerry’s father fought in two wars and was awarded 16 medals, including the Silver Star for gallantry in action, the Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts. The former prisoner of war retired as a sergeant major after 21 years in the U.S. Army.
