Our Chris Miller got a hands-on look at the Geonaute 360 video camera at CES 2014. Here’s his review.

aNewDomain.net — Our Chris Miller got a hands-on look at the Geonaute 360 video camera. Check out the videocast below to see what Geonaute will be delivering — and find out what Chris Miller thought of this new technology.

At CES 2014, I had the opportunity to interview Justin Schneller, product manager of the Geonaute 360 video camera. In the video below, we talk about the Geonaute 360’s capabilities, including its three 8mp cameras, its custom software and how the Geonaute 360 mounts on GoPro cameras.

The Geonaute 360’s compact design has a micro-SD card slot and video resolution of 2048 x 1024 at 25 frames per second. The camera is able to make 360 degree shots in video, photo, burst and timelapse modes. And helmet mounts, tripod mounts and more are available, too. I’m especially impressed by the entire size — it’s just 1.65 inches by 2.83 inches — and it is light enough for even helmet mounts.

The GEONAUTE is designed to be subjected to extreme conditions. It is robust and IPX7 rated, can be submerged in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Dongle included you can use the device, even in the most extreme conditions …”

The ability to interact with Geonaute 360 camera videos on a tablet, using its software, gives you full 360-degree control. You’re able to use either your fingers or its gyroscope to move around the view. The Geonaute 360 also lets you flatten the video — and upload your videos to sites like YouTube. We got to play with the viewing software in the above video review. Check out how easy it is to zoom in and out, pan and flatten. It was amazing. For more, check out the demo video here. According to the company:

A unique ability to shoot the GEONAUTE 360 records a standard MP4 video format. The files are ready to be viewed directly after downloading using the free Geonaute Studio. There is no need to post-recording editing …”

Cameras are available for pre order now at discounted prices.
