Delectable 4.0 for Apple iOS: Freeware Thursday

Written by Gina Smith

Delectable 4.0 is out as of June 18, 2014 on Apple iTunes. The new version is the biggest-ever change to the wine-selection and visual-search app. Find out more here. Cheers!

aNewDomain — If you love wine, you know Delectable. The wine app, brainstormed by Paypal’s Max Levchin, Yammer’s David Sacks and wine expert and investor Gary Vaynerchuk, has won the hearts and minds of wine lovers for a reason. It lets you discover, learn about and, even, figure out how to select and buy great wine. And now Delectable 4.0 — available today on iTunes — is faster, boasts a cool new UI and is even more feature-rich.

delectable4snap1Delectable is notable for more reasons than there are detectable notes in a Chasagne or Puligny Montrachet. Its CEO, reps say, used the same Big Data tech goverments use to fight terrorism to reimagine — and, in a sense, reinvent — the wine industry. Big Grape is a $300 billion biz, which is nothing to turn up your nose at.

In Delectable 4.0 for iOS, you’re able to take a snapshot of any bottle of wine and, within just a couple of seconds, get great information about it. That’s visual-search tech at its tastiest. Delectable 4.0 also lets you share and catalog your wines, access top U.S. sommeliers to get excellent wine recommendations and buy wines from within the app. They get delivered right to your door.

Delectable 4.0, available now, does require Apple iOS 7.0 or later. It’s optimized for the Apple iPhone 5, reps say, but it blends well with the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, too.

I highly recommend you download the latest version of this critically acclaimed wine app. You have to be 17 years old or older, though. Please drink responsibly — and download happily. Because Delectable 4.0 is free — and my pick for Freeware Thursday.
