aNewDomain — So I was digging around on Alexa and other traffic monitoring sites today, trying to prove or disprove Avid Life Media’s statement today that its traffic numbers and female signups were actually up. This is in the wake of a major hack that spilled the personal details and financial info on millions of its extramarital dating site’s customers, followed up by a dump of 200K plus emails from top execs like founder Noel Biderman, who stepped down as CEO this week.
That’s how I found AshleyRNadison.com, a site records show is owned by one of Avid Life Media’s several corporate shell companies. See the WhoIs data below the fold. AshleyRNadison.com carries the Avid Dating mark and all the legal disclaimers from Ashley Madison.
I accidentally found it on Alexa when I clicked on an entry I thought was ashleymadison.com but actually was AshleyRNadison.com. The two names look almost exactly the same when in lower case.
AshleyRNadison.com isn’t an extramarital dating site, or agency, as Ashley Madison purports to be. Rather, it is a down and dirty adult personals site — claiming to be the No. 1 adult personals site, in fact. It just might be.

In early 2011, according to the Wayback Machine, it seems AshleyRNadison was just a pointer site to the main AshleyMadison site. It pointed right to it. By September, it had its own image and description. The standard Ashley Madison privacy statement is on that site, dated August 11, 2011. AshleyMadison.com is ranked at 1,042, as you can see in the bottom image. There has been a bit of a bounce in traffic on AshleyMadison.com, as Avid Life Media claimed in its statement today. Whether it truly is signing up the sorts of numbers execs claim is anyone’s guess.
