aNewDomain.net — That went by fast. April 28, 2013 marks a decade of iTunes. Apple iTunes is 10 years old. Here’s how it rose from the ashes of Napster, where it’s heading, plus infographics and more.

aNewDomain.net — Apple iTunes turns 10 on April 28, 2013. That makes it a decade of iTunes.

First, check out the YouTube video showing late Apple CEO Steve Jobs announcing Apple iTunes in 2003.

Launched on the ashes of Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker’s then-battered and controversial Napster, Apple iTunes was far from a slam dunk when the late Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs launched it April 28, 2003.

Apple noted the anniversary earlier this week. In iTunes, hit the Music tab to find an interactive infographic — Apple calls it a Decade of iTunes. It shows you top songs and albums as Apple iTunes tracked them year by year, from 2003 to 2013.

Apple iTunes started with just songs. Amazon and Google — and of late, Twitter — are in the biz, too. Here’s a handy infographic showing how Google Music and Amazon music services compare to Apple iTunes as of two months ago.

What was the first song you downloaded in Apple iTunes? My first was Time, the epic classic rock song by Pink Floyd. It’s still in my library. Watch it below and let us know what your first iTunes uploads were. We’ll post them as we get them.
