Decade of iTunes: Apple iTunes Hits 10 Years, Video, Infographic

Launched on the ashes of Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker’s then-battered and controversial Napster, Apple iTunes was far from a slam dunk when the late Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs launched it April 28, 2003.

Apple noted the anniversary earlier this week. In iTunes, hit the Music tab to find an interactive infographic — Apple calls it a Decade of iTunes. It shows you top songs and albums as Apple iTunes tracked them year by year, from 2003 to 2013.

Apple iTunes started with just songs. Amazon and Google — and of late, Twitter — are in the biz, too. Here’s a handy infographic showing how Google Music and Amazon music services compare to Apple iTunes as of two months ago.
