aNewDomain – Anyone with a smartphone or tablet has experienced the fear of dropping their beloved device. Some of you. . .us. . .even have nightmares of dropping the device just as you’re sending that historical selfie. I’m here at the pre Mobile World Congress event Pepcom checking out some of the new tech offerings for the coming year. I was able to stop by the booth of Tech21 and take a look at how it will make me sleep with less anxiety over dropping my smartphone.

Tech21 wants to prove to consumers that a thicker mobile device case is the answer to protecting the device. It believes and case should (and can be) thinner. How is that, you ask?
Well the FlexShock technology developed by the British company using tiny cubic cutouts in the design of the outer skin. The material is a standard polymer we’re all used to, but it’s the design behind the cut-outs that makes this case more protective. The cut-outs allows energy to dissipate evenly across the device upon impact. By the way, I watched them drop an iPhone 6 on the concrete floors and the device functioned as if nothing happened.
In addition to the protective shell, you install a screen protector. It’s not your standard screen protector. It uses an additional layer of protection provided by BASF to prevent screen shattering. All while being super thin as shown below.
The Tech21 cases can be found on their website and other online retailers. It’s available for most mobile devices. I was fairly impressed with the cases. Not only are they protective, but they don’t add substantial thickness to your device making it bulky or difficult to handle.
For those of us who can’t stop dropping our stuff. Good read Ant, thank you!
