aNewDomain.net — At the Luxury Technology Show in New York City, I checked out iWallet. The firm offers a high-tech way for you to hide such valuable items as your credit card.
These folks make one handsome wallet. It’s made from either aluminum or carbon fiber. And it locks securely to keep your credit cards and cash safe. And it’s biometrically secure. Only you can open it because it uses a fingerprint scanner to release the lock.
Future iWallet models will include Bluetooth tethering to prevent you from walking away and forgetting your wallet, execs told me. The firm also plans to make a version large enough to hold a passport.
If there’s a weakness in the system, it’s that iWallet only remembers one fingerprint at a time. So if you injure that finger, you’ll need to plug the wallet into your computer using a USB cable and connect with the iWallet service to regain access to the contents. But the odds of that happening do seem somewhat remote.
