The $149 Echo sports watch is a rugged, sweat-proof smartwatch that lets you run popular mobile sports apps through a wireless connection.
You get a real time stream of fitness data, and you’re able to wirelessly control and get your music from your Apple iPhone, iPad or iPad Mini via Bluetooth smart tech, too.
You do have to carry your mobile with you when you use the Echo — the point is wireless streaming from your mobile device to the Echo watch.
Click here for a list of sports apps that will work with the new Echo watch. There are four apps that work with it now — those are Stava, Wahoo Fitness, Map My Run and iSmoothRun — and more are expected soon. The Echo has an open API inviting more app development, execs said.
The Echo watch will soon work with some Android devices, execs told aNewDomain, but for now it’s Apple iOS only.
The Echo will work with Apple iPhone 4S, 5, 5C, 5S smartphone models, the Apple iPod Touch 5th generation or later models, the Apple iPad Mini and 3rd generation Apple iPads or later.
