Summer Olympics 2012: Mobile Tech To Explode Viewership

The Summer Olympics 2012 in London will reach 4.9 billion people worldwide, according to reports, and that’s thanks to the proliferation of mobile devices.  That growth makes the viewership of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing look small. Check out this infographic, courtesy of iprospect.

  • NBC has done a good job of streaming the Tour de France, and I am looking forward to the Olympics.

One difference though is that the Olympics will not be available to cord cutters — streaming is free, but only for those who already subscribe to a cable, satellite or telco video tier that includes CNBC and MSNBC.  Anyone in the US could sign up for the Tour for a fee.
