Marissa Mayer: Yahoo CEO in Real Life, Still at Google on Facebook, LinkedIn

Written by Gina Smith

Marissa Mayer, the new Yahoo CEO as of July 17, 2012, was just posting to Facebook a day into her new job. But she hasn’t updated her job title on LinkedIn or Facebook yet. Someone needs to alert Yahoo marketing.

Someone forgot to remind Yahoo CEO to set the privacy controls on her Facebook page. Or she is one big open book.

Either way, the more I think about it, it is so besides the point. Here is Yahoo with its fresh new CEO — the young blood this company so desperately needs — and no one there thinks to update the new Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer’s title on Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn accounts.

It just looks … slack.

Sharp folks on Wikipedia managed to update her high school’s entry to include her as a notable alum. And they’re not even getting paid!

A heavy Facebook user with 1200 plus contacts — that can’t be popular at Google — she nonetheless hasn’t “liked” a single thing in 2012. Google+ pressure? Her Likes for previous years are numerous, though.

Here were her likes as listed on her unblocked Facebook profile, indicating a liberal political leaning (ie the Obama and CA attorney general Kamala Harris) and a little bit about who her friends are. All 1200 plus of them. Her 2011 likes were:

bitforms gallery nyc, the scholium project, TechCrunch, The Facebook Effect, by David Kirkpatrick, Google Chrome, InStyle, Glam, Lily Samii, Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, iStrategyLabs, Trade-Off: Why Some Things Catch On, and Others Don’t, Behind the Cloud, Obama Time Capsule, Cross Marketing PR, Gel conference, causes.com, Help a UCSF Preemie Reach their 5th Birthday!, DHC Skincare, Founders Den, i.am angel, charity: water, Marissa Mayer & Zack Bogue for the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Google for the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Wavii, Robert Fountain, GigaOM, Being Finnish, LeWeb, Jeffrey Toobin Page, San Francisco Ballet ENCORE!, FORTUNE / U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Program 2010, CS106A: Programming Methodology, Kamala D. Her tweeting style is interesting. Primarily, as you can see below, it is weekly — and always promotional. Now she’s tweeting about Yahoo. Just recently it was Google.

She took a trip to Davos in January for the G8 forum.
