Macworld | iWorld 2012 is grinding to a halt — it concludes tomorrow afternoon with a tribal drum circle. Conceived as a World Fair type of event with a little SF Hippie Hill built in, this year’s Macworld |iWorld was a real invention. IDG trippy.
Dead center at the event was a dance floor — a silent disco called Silent Frisco. The DJ livestreams music into the dancers’ wireless headphones.

Even the DJ wouldn’t talk when I tried to interview him. This was a silent disco!
Here he is setting up his Mac. Notice his dance mix.
After 10 minutes one brave soul ventured out. Dancing silently on the floor.
And another.

Finally a guy joins in. LOL. That was inevitable.

Lots of art, art shows and art apps at the show. Our Mac McCarthy and Julie Blaustein checked out the latest rev of ArtRage, for the iPad and iPhone.
The venue was beautiful. Here’s the view from one of the glass walls near the dance floor.
The show wasn’t packed — not optimal for IDG but an easier, more relaxed show for attendees. Maybe the late Jobs’ absence drew fewer hard core attendees.
IDG reports 20K attendees showed up last year.

Our editor and security expert Alan Wallace spent the show in Oahu. Bet you missed the reinvented MacWorld :) Have a great weekend!

“Fly grip” looks pretty funny. :) Ppl struggle with dropping their phones, so give them a finger clip for it. Hilarious. :)
Nice pics, though.

The dancing was wild.
We should have had John C. Dvorak out there dancing with his Mevio crew. What was I thinking? gs
