People think when they’re multitasking they are more productive. That logic doesn’t add up. Humans are serial multitaskers. They don’t do parallel multiasking. Our minds aren’t wired that way. So instead of increasing productivity we’re struggling to cope.
Despite scientific studies confirming humans are able to perform at most two tasks simultaneously, tech is encouraging multitasking like nobody’s business. But there’s a dark side. The infographic above shows what the perils of multitasking are.
An important aside:: The author of the infographic above is Dr. William J. Ward, a.k.a DR4WARD. He is the professor of social media at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
He also is ranked one of the top marketing professors on Twitterfor providing useful content and engaging with followers and truly getting it when it comes to the best ways to use Twitter and other forms of Social Media. He earned his Ph.D. in Media and Information Studies at Michigan State University and teaches internationally. He also participates with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. That’s mulitasking, alright, but my guess is he scored those honors one at a time.
I consider myself A.D.D. at times.
