J.R.R. Tolkien in 1938 wrote of a hole in the ground where “there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat” but “a hobbit-hole … and that means comfort.”
And so a saga was born. As the next film adaptation of Tolkien’s bucolic Lord of the Rings series chronicling a universe of elves, hobbits and other Middle World creatures hits theaters, it’s a great time to refresh yourself with some Tolkien infographics.
Scroll below the fold for an extreme map of Middle Earth. Wow.
And below is a tremendous Tolkien infographic — it’s in Spanish, but even non-native speakers will get the idea — detailing the history, culture and background of Tolkien, The Hobbit, the Lord of the Ring series and tons of triviata surrounding the magical world that Tolkien so deftly created. Perfecto.
And the awesome Middle Earth infographic we promised is below.
