GooManager Beta is the companion Android app to www.goo.im. I had to check it out.
Goo.im acts as a file hosting website for custom roms and those developer files we all know and love. As more developers host their roms on Goo.im, the latest GooManager Beta app starts to look really interesting.
This app automatically checks for the latest version of the custom rom that you are running on your device, making the process of constantly checking for the latest nightly builds a lot less tedious.
Google’s mobile OS Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is the hot ticket item for Android heads right now. Developers are practically rushing Google, getting nightly builds to get the latest version of Jellybean on their tablets and slates.
Tedious. And that’s where GooManager Beta comes in.
Now, if you’ve ever listened to the Attack of the Androids podcast I host with Mat Lee and the guys, you know I can’t help myself when it comes to custom roms. And I recently started running the Team EOS Jelly Bean rom for my Transformer Prime. So this app is definitely one I wanted to check out.
The app works great. GooManager Beta let me find out when there’s an update and then it immediately downloads it to your device. The app also has a feature available to flash the new rom to your device. That’s not as necessary to me, personally. By now you know I like doing things the old-fashioned way –directly in ClockworkMod Recovery.
The app is free, but donate $10 or more to get a login that slows wait time before downloads. Bottom line: Expect bugs in a beta, of course, but overall, I love this app. GooManager Beta is awesome.

Note: To use this app, you need to have rooted your Android device and have an unlocked bootloader. If you do — and if you like to play around with custom roms — this is definitely a must-have app.
i just LOVE this app. So convenient for rooted and rom’d devices.
