Ever try to find a printer on the network but you can’t remember the IP address? A free tool targeting system administrators, Fing from Overlook is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux — and Android. Think of it as a quick security scan. It will let you know all the machines on your network, what operating system they run — and the system names, too. That’s terribly useful for administrators.
Did I mention Fing is free — and my selection today for Freeware Friday? It is.
For Linux, I should note that Fing is compatible with Debian 5.0, Ubuntu 8 and up, CentOS 5.0, Fedora 10, Slackware and Gentoo 32-bit and 64-bit.
Happy Friday.
Nice.

Is it better than Mac OS X’s built-in Network Utility?
BTW, there is an error in the first link; if you click that one you end up on a page that lists sites, including porn sites.
Whoops! Thanks, good catch — we’ve fixed it. The link goes to the right place now.
This is why +Eric Vlietnick rocks. Actually, yesterday the wrong link was going somewhere else, looks like someone pointed it at porn when they saw it in a story. And that’s a story!
