  • Ant will remember this one: we had a co-worker who was an enormous fan of the University of Colorado football team. That spring, there had been quite a few scandals coming to light about issues in the football program, so we decided to prank Andy for April Fools Day.

I went to ESPN.com and, using a script, downloaded the entire site as static HTML and images. I then changed the main story on the front page to a “Breaking News” headline that the Colorado President had voluntarily suspended all football activities for the upcoming season.

Our Net Admin set up the traffic from our department to route ESPN.com traffic to our site, and then all we had to do was wait.

Andy had posted on several Colorado fan forums about the suspension — and had a bunch of other fans in a tizzy too –before someone posted that the date was April 1.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone simultaneously so relieved and so pissed off.
