Apple Contract Factory Worker: Thank You, America! (parody video)

Satire is often the best way to make a point. In this clip, the Whoa comedy team takes aim at working conditions in the Chinese factories where Apple contracts out its manufacturing.

Sometimes satire is the best way to make a point. In this clip, the Whoa comedy team takes aim at working conditions in the Chinese factories where workers build Apple products. From the video:

“This is the breakroom where we share stories like when Michael lost feeling in hands installing uncoated lithium battery … too funny!”

  • Hahaha! This is hilarious and Apple should be ashamed. More people need to know about their working conditions. Thanks, Eric Mack

  • While it is a cute parody, what makes you think that labor conditions in other plants are different?

Do you think that other electronic devices, building materials, Chinese auto plants, etc are different? Got any Chinese drywall in your house Eric?

As long as China (and other countries like India) have labor arbitrage as a key growth tactic this will occur. What do you think it was like here 100 years ago?

The shame belongs to us for shipping production jobs overseas with but one criteria – low cost.

  • The plants I’ve toured in Shenzhen (sp) were never “just” Apple plants or plants for any other company. The manufacturer my firm used made dozens of other PCs. Not to speak for Eric, but I believe he is just posting the parody video — as a meme.

The issue of outsourcing is a tough one. The NYT did a great job exploring this in a Sunday edition. I’ll see if I can find a link and share it with you Mike and all .. gs
