Valeo introduced this Park4U Remote parking technology at a German automobile show in September. The system consists of an app on your smartphone and a complex array of sensors in the vehicle. Expect Valeo to make a big showing and announce deals with major carmakers at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona.
The company makes, among many other components, a range of radar, ultrasonic, infrared and vision sensor systems. The French firm is partnering with specialists in the space, like Ibeo, to improve and scale its solutions.
Valeo got its start in the 1920s with brake linings for the auto industry. Today the company says it employs 70,000 people in 28 countries. It is aiming to play a key role in the development of the nascent market for autonomous and hybrid vehicles.
