Tom Sloan Cartoon: Hidden Treasures

Hidden treasure: It’s important to have the proper perspective. Tom Sloan on some famous, smart and lucky finds.

aNewDomain.net — Every so often there is something in the news about a great discovery. I don’t mean anything like discovering fire or America, but finding an unknown treasure. Mr. Carter was digging in the sand and found King Tut. Someone found a signed copy of Beethoven’s 9th in the attic. Someone else found a copy of the Declaration of Independence in an old shoe box.

What about the lucky guy who found an original Apple I with Steve Wozniak’s autograph and documentation signed by Steve Jobs at a garage sale for $15? Sometimes it’s about being very good about your subject and other times it’s just pure luck. I’d rather be lucky than good.

For aNewDomain.net, I’m Tom Sloan.

Tom Sloan has drawn cartoons and illustrations for numerous publications — including the original BYTE magazine. Not limited to print, Tom’s cartoons and collages are displayed in museums and galleries throughout the United States. He’s also an accomplished animator.
