aNewDomain — On July 27, 2015, The Los Angeles Times fired me as its long time editorial cartoonist. The reason? Editors said they believed, based on a secret LAPD audiotape of my 2001 arrest for jaywalking, that I’d lied about my treatment by the police officer in a May 11, 2015 Times blog. But I had the tape enhanced and cleaned up just a few days later. It proved I’d told the truth.
In July, the LA TImes publicly shamed and fired award-winning cartoonist Ted Rall, saying it had police audio proving he lied in print re: a 2001 arrest. Now an enhanced tape proves the Times wrong. But the Times won’t take his calls. Ted Rall cartoon, exclusive.
