Lucid PowerXtend: How It Gets Phones 20 Percent More Battery Life

Alfred Poor checks out Lucid PowerXtend technology, which shuts down some smartphone components during rendering to get you 20 percent more battery life.

aNewDomain.net — Would you love to get 20 percent more battery life out of your smartphone? If you’re in with that, definitely take a moment to learn more about Lucid PowerXtend technology. Israel-based Lucid created PowerXtend to lengthen your phone’s battery life — simply through software that is embedded in a smartphone’s controller. And it’s rolling out on newer phones now. My video explaining how it works is below.

Lucid founder Offir Remez told me that PowerXtend eliminates much of the time that the CPU, graphics adapter and display controller spend having to wait for other components to get the data they need to display images. By freeing up these components to do other tasks — or to go into a low-power sleep mode — PowerXtend will in fact lengthen battery life by up to 20 percent.

Check out my aNewDomain TV video interview and a head-to-head demonstration showing how this tech works. And scroll below the fold for more details.

  • Fantastic feature! battery life-time is the biggest pain that requires such solutions.
