If you’re a parent with a kid who gets baskets of chocolate on today Easter Sunday (April 8, 2012, here in the U.S.) don’t miss this Easter Bunny infographic. Great. It’ll settle your nerves as your little kids run around like maniacs all day. Well, at least it will distract you.
But I do love me the bunny : ) even though this bunny is a major enemy of four out of five dentists, as my dentist once quipped.
To me this is a secular activity — just fun — but of course it is linked to the Christian High Holiday of Easter. Did you know Easter coincides with the first full moon after the Spring Equinox? The so-called Pink Moon in your sky right now is actually the the analogue to the giant harvest moon after the Fall Equinox. Check out nasa.gov for more on this.
I wonder how its original planners linked a chocolate passing bunny to such a serious Christian holiday. Anyone know? Just like Christmas. Commercialization of these holidays disturbs a lot of folks. Are you one? I’d love to get to know our huge and growing international audience better.
