Amazon Prime Day Deals: Shopping As A Game

Written by Mark Kaelin

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Amazon offers Amazon Prime members a day of deals. If you don’t mind the shopping as a game concept, then take note: July 15, 2015 is Amazon Prime Day.

aNewDomain — July 15 is Amazon Prime Day, a day on which Amazon Prime Members get real savings. It’s a good day to buy if Amazon has what you want on sale and you don’t mind the whole “shopping as a game” concept with timed deals and so on. I’m not a fan of that, but I am in the market for a new television. So I took a look.

Televisions

Unfortunately for me, Amazon Prime Day game rules dictate that not all items are available at their exclusive sales price all day long. The Lightning Deal tease is that some items are on sale only for a specified time during the day — this seems to be particularly true for televisions.

This premium 4K television, for example will be on sale at some point on Wednesday, July 15. It is the Samsung 50-Inch 4K Ultra HD 3D TV, which lists at $2,899.98 is now about a thousand dollars.

Computers

In the market for a decent gaming computer that won’t break your budget? You might want to take a look at the Acer Predator AG3-605-UR2F Gaming Desktop. It is on sale for Prime Members for $899.99.

Smartphones

If you are looking for a deal on a new smartphone, you might want to take a look at this factory unlocked HTC One M9, which normally sells for $650, but is on sale during Prime Day for $610.

Accessories

The first sale that greeted me when I went to the Prime Day page was for a pair of Bose SoundTrue Headphones On-Ear Style, selling for $119.95, a savings of $30. A good pair of headphones always makes me happy.

Contest

Also on Amazon Prime Day ,Prime members can enter into a sweepstakes drawing for $25,000 worth of Amazon gift cards. To get in, you’re required to play a song — any song  — on Amazon Prime Music. Sigh.

Shopping As A Game

As I said, I am not at all into the “shopping as a game” concept. Timed sales are just not my thing. But I know there are plenty of people who love the idea. If that’s you, definitely check out the Amazon Prime Day deals.

Amazon competitors Wal-Mart and Target, by the way, are having counter-promotions for Amazon Prime Day. That’s a good thing. Perhaps July 15 will become a new tradition like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

That’s competition at its best.
