CES 2014: FLIR Thermal Imaging for Apple iPhone (video)

aNewDomain.net — At CES 2014, our Todd Townsend checks out FLIR, a $349 thermal imaging device for the Apple iPhone.

Launched at CES 2014, the FLIR thermal imaging camera and sensor for the Apple iPhone will cost $349 when it hits the market this spring. And an Android version isn’t far behind, FLIR execs told me this year at ShowStoppers. Here’s my deep dive on why you’d want thermal imaging on your iPhone, where the idea comes from and where this tech is headed. At the very least, it’s a pretty handy way to help you see in the dark — and spot energy leaks during this extra cold winter.

For another take, check out my colleague Mike Olsen’s analysis here.

I’ve used FLIR on projects… great to see it coming to consumer. It is fantastic technology for seeing what can’t be seen.
