Kurzweil will join Google December 17, he says, and he will serve Google as its newest Director of Engineering. His primary focus will be on “new projects” regarding “machine learning and language processing.” The move makes sense given Kurzweil’s well-known affections for Google and the fact that Google partially funds Kurzweil’s Singularity Univerisity. Disclosure: This writer worked with Ray Kurzweil in the publicity of her book, the memoir of Steve Wozniak, titled: iWOZ: How I Invented the Personal Computer and Had Fun Doing It.(W.W. Norton, 2006). Smith profits directly from sales of that book and indirectly profits from Kurzweil’s continual promotions of the book.
Wozniak and Kurzweil are personal friends. We expect comment from Steve Wozniak, too. Watch this space for the developing story.
